About the Global Mobility Institute (GMI)

The Global Mobility Institute (GMI) is an independent, nonpartisan think tank dedicated to advancing fairness, transparency, and equity in global mobility systems. In a world where international movement is central to opportunity, education, and collaboration, visa policies and mobility frameworks too often remain opaque, inconsistent, and unequal.

GMI was established to fill a critical gap in global policy dialogue: the need for robust, data-informed, and context-sensitive analysis of how mobility systems affect individuals, countries, and global development. Our work focuses on elevating mobility as a key issue of global governance—one that intersects with trade, health, education, diplomacy, and human rights.

We approach mobility not only as a logistical challenge, but as a strategic opportunity. Through research, data tools, and dialogue, we aim to support policymakers, institutions, and civil society in building more responsive, transparent, and inclusive mobility regimes that reflect today’s interconnected world.
